Atlantic Festival - Madeira

Held in the month of June, this festival is filled with animation and culture, comprising of three different components: The Madeira Music Festival, The International Firework Contest and street performances by philharmonic bands.

Several classical music performances also take place in the city centre, at the Balthazar Dias Municipal Theatre and in some churches.

This festival has been further enhanced by the recent introduction of the International Fireworks Competition. This competition consists of a firework display held every Saturday night, during which four different countries present the public with their best firework displays, in an unmatchable show of light and colour, in which music harmoniously synchronises with the fireworks. The Pearl of the Atlantic trophy is awarded afterwards by public vote.
