Rota dos Cetaceos is an example of benign and sustainable use of marine resources, contributing to their conservation.
From Whaling to Conservation-
Rota dos Cetáceos is the natural evolution of the Reis family, long connected to the sea. The family started with whaling between 1940 and 1981 and is presently involved in wild cetacean conservation through ecotourism.
They believe that knowledge is essential and therefore in everything they do, the ecological message comes across strongly.
They follow the Voluntary Viewing Guidelines for whales and dolphins in the Madeira archipelago, to offer our clients a quality experience, observing the natural behaviour of cetaceans and respecting them.
The staff are all trained and educated about environmental conservation, and all good practices are adhered to in order to promote preservation and restrict any damage to the local environment.
Life's origin on Earth is in the oceans and in the oceans lies the future. For Rota dos Cetáceos the future starts today, in each step we take.
