Eira do Serrado/Curral das Freiras (Nun's Valley)/Monte

Pico dos Barcelos is a viewpoint from where guests can admire a beautiful view over Funchal. Eira do Serrado is a viewpoint (1094 m) overlooking the valley of Curral das Freiras. It offers spectacular views of the little village built in the middle of a valley and the mountains. Guests also get to visit the village and taste some of the local liqueurs and chestnuts cake at the local bars.

Monte is a village in the suburbs of Funchal. Here, guests visit the Parish church and the surrounding gardens. Guests can also enjoy the famous sledge ride - toboggan - until Livramento. (This is optional and not included in the price). The toboggan is driven by men in white, called the ‘carreiros'. The last stop is at a wine cellar to taste the Madeira wines (not possible on Sundays and public holidays).

General conditions:

• The ticket for a tour entitles the client to transportation, entrance fees and meals where specified; extras are not included
• Children up to 4 years are allowed free (meals to be paid for); children between 5 and 9 years pay 50% of the normal price
• The tour operator merely acts as intermediary between passenger and restaurants or transportation and may in no way be held legally responsible for failure or accident resulting from these services
• Insurance required by Portuguese law
• All tours and prices are subject to change without notice
• The tour operator reserves the right to use minibus or private car
• Excursions may be cancelled due to weather conditions or event beyond control or according to the number of participants

The tour is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays (only afternoon) and Sundays (only morning).

The toboggan ride is not included in the tour price. If guests want to try it, the driver will pick them up at the end of the trip.
