Casa das Hortensias is a small property composed of three villas. The main house which is a restored traditional Madeiran house has three rooms plus two independent self catering apartments. The house offers views of both the sea and the surrounding terraced vineyards.
It is a good place to discover the tradition and style of the local people. The house has been decorated by the owner herself (Bela) and has several things of antiquity. Full of charm and good taste, it has stone walls and pavements, wooden beams and traditional balconies from where guests can enjoy lovely views of the countryside comprising mostly of agricultural land.
On arrival at the property, guests will be offered a glass of Madeira wine or a cup of herbal tea.
There are other villages nearby to be visited; Porto Moniz boasts natural swimming pools on the sea coast. Many scenic walks are possible around the Santana area; Porto da Cruz is a lovely sleepy village on the coast nearby.

Late check-outs are possible, subject to availability of rooms.
Children staying with two adults enjoy the following discounts:
- free accommodation for children up to 5 years of age
- children between 6 and 12 years pay half rates
- children over 13 years share a triple room.
Cancellations made less than seven days before arrival will be charged for three nights. The same applies to cases of no-show.
Our service fee is not refundable and any refund, when applicable, will be subject to eventual bank transfer fee to be charged to the client.
Prices of the standard rooms in the main house include breakfast. The apartments are not in the main house and have separate individual entrances. Here breakfast is not included in the price. However, a few complimentary items such as fresh bread, jam and little bags of tea and coffee are supplied in the apartments every day.
